Hosea 11:1–11
When you were children, I loved you;
out of slavery I called you, my children.
The more I called, the more you left –
you left me for idols, left me for other gods.
Didn't I teach you to walk, my children,
take you in my arms, kiss your wounds better?
You did not see the cords of kindness,
bands of love, as I bent low to feed you.
If you refuse me, so, my children,
where, then shall you go?
I cannot betray my heart, my love;
I will deny my right to anger.
Come home, my children, return
to me – I will wait, I will wait, I will
