only in their turning, do the peoples act as one
from Holy One they separate themselves;
against the anointed they plot and scheme –
and Holy One?
responds with laughter – oh the derision
thrown the way of these upstarts,
derision spiced with wrath and fury!
Holy One said to me, 'you are mine,
I claim you for my own this day:
vast your heritage, all the earth
for you to inherit – we will show
these so-called kings and rulers;
they will crumble, pieces of a potter's
vessel shattered upon the ground!'
will they be wise? will they heed
the warning? will they turn back
to Holy One?
or face the wrath? or perish
on their chosen path?
for it is those who take refuge
in the heart of the Holy who know
the joy of life.
