Yet you are God

Psalm 22

I feel forsaken, God, unheard,
unheeded, lost from your sight.

Yet you are God, ever near,
remembering all, always.

I cry, my God, by night, by
day, and you? You stay away ...

Yet, you are God, who hears
and rescues those who turn to you.

I am scorned, despised, by people round me;
I am unworthy of your help, O God.

Yet you are God, Holy, trusted, God
of generations known by your name.

I am mocked, I am attacked; the sharks
have caught my scent and I am doomed.

Yet you are God, who gave me life,
whose breath is in my lungs, my voice, my limbs.

I wilt, I am depleted, empty vessel dry
as dust to fly on fickle wings afar.

Yet you are God, you are not far from me.
You are the One, the only One: remember.
